Bookmobile Stops Cancelled

Due to poor air quality, Bookmobile has the following cancellations for Friday, July 17:

  • Winona (11am-12pm)

  • Queen Victoria (3-4pm)

An Orange Air Quality Warning has been initiated for the City of Hamilton by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks beginning July 15, 2026. This alert will remain in effect until a cancellation notice is issued.

Express Items via OverDrive - Partner Libraries Update

As of July 1st, partner library Members can no longer borrow HPL Express items via Overdrive. More to Borrow partner libraries will be offering Lucky Express (Skip the line) titles to their cardholders only. This will help manage wait times for popular titles. Lucky Express is a collection of in demand titles with a seven-day loan period, available with no wait. 

Our partners will still be able to borrow titles from the rest of our collection.

Sunday hours return to Central Library. Beginning July 5, Central is open Noon to 5pm. Dundas, Red Hill, Terryberry, Turner Park, Valley Park and Waterdown branches are also open Sundays, 1 to 5pm. hpl.ca/hours

Makerspace Appointment Request Form

To reserve Makerspace studios and equipment you must have:

  • A completed Makerspace Waiver and follow the Makerspace Guidelines.
  • A Hamilton Public Library card in good standing.
  • Valid photo ID (e.g. Ontario ID, Driver's License, Student ID, etc.)
  • Be age 14 and older. (Users under age 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

*This form is intended for the reservations for Makerspace studios and equipment.

Notes:

  • Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance. For same-day bookings please call or visit the branch.
  • Members are limited to one session per day and up to three sessions per week.
  • Makerspaces close 30 minutes before the library.
  • Anyone using Sound Studio, Game Room and Photo/Video Studio (Green Room) is required to show their Hamilton Public Library card and/or another piece of ID to Makerspace Staff before entering the room.
  • 3D printing bookings are for preparing the 3D file for printing and your print may be added into our queue. For more information, see our 3D Printing page.
  • If this is your first time using the embroidery machine, we strongly recommend attending a class or booking staff assistance through our Book an Appointment form. The embroidery software can be complex, and completing a project may take more than one session.
Note: Cassette digitization is only available at the Central Library Makerspace.
