Phishing Scheme
Please be aware of online phishing attempts impersonating Hamilton Public Library and Library Staff. HPL does not solicit paid freelance opportunities through social media or other messaging applications. HPL does not request personal or banking information through social media or require financial compensation when reviewing job applications. Please report phishing schemes to communications@hpl.ca. If you think you are a victim of fraud, please call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
Victoria Day Closure
All HPL branches are closed on Sunday, May 19, and Victoria Day, Monday, May 20. Bookmobile, Extended Access, and Study Hall services are unavailable. Regular service hours resume on Tuesday, May 21.
Use of Images
Terms of Use
The original images are in the public domain and copyright has lapsed. The digital images are created by the Hamilton Public Library and Hamilton Public Library owns the copyright for these digital images. All images are covered under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 Canada License.
These images can be used for personal or research use without prior permission. Any other use, including, but not limited to, commercial or scholarly reproductions, redistribution, publication, or transmission whether by electronic means or otherwise without prior written permission from the Hamilton Public Library is prohibited. The Library will grant or withhold permission on a case by case basis. Permission requests may be sent to the Local History & Archives Department.
Acceptable uses for the images are:
- Teaching
- Research or reference
- Private study
- General interest
The images on the PreVIEW website are low resolution files in jpg format. High resolutions images are now available for purchase.
The images must not be altered or manipulated in any way and proper credit must accompany all images.
Credit
When you reproduce an image from the PreVIEW website, the following information must appear with the image as part of the credit line:
