Scent's Shadow by Nicole Levaque
How many times can a piece of ceramic be fired, how many times can a still life be rearranged? This repetition is central, its action easy, predictable, and ultimately a source of healing. Levaque’s work is an inventory that can be continuously in play, it can change in a day or a year from now. She works to understand the role of fate and chance, how a loose grip or an accidental bump leads down a new path. She sees the sculptural process intrinsically tied to letting go to a power greater than herself, finding beauty in unpredictable materiality and highlighting the traces of touch.
